The contribution presents results of a research examination focused on monitoring institutional services for seniors in the territory of the city České Budějovice. The main purpose of this research was mapping of needs of people at post-productive age in association with institutional services offered by the city České Budějovice. A further important aspect was a question concerning the extent of acquainting seniors with a possibility of the use of a new social financial contribution - contribution to the care. The project also includes the Prognosis of the need of institutional services, however, this part is not discussed in the present contribution.
The research was performed from April to September 2009. It was implemented quantitatively, through the mediation of information supplied by givers of the services and furthermore based on public available data, and by a method of the questionnaire examination. The proposal of the questionnaire and choice of respondents was based on generally known and published starting points. The research examination included total of 240 seniors over 65 years of age. This sample was chosen as statistically significant. Total of 231 questionnaires were processed.
The main target of the project presented was to process the analysis of institutional services for seniors in the territory of the city České Budějovice. Based on the data examined, it is possible to consider that the numbers of beds in institutions for seniors correspond with foreign models serving for prognosis of the need of beds in institutional facilities. Of course, the structure of seniors in terms of their degree of dependence is not quite the most suitable one. In accordance with modern European concepts, complex institutional services should provide the care for considerably dependent or quite dependent seniors who correspond to degrees III and IV. Seniors dependent within degrees I and II should only account for 10% of the clients in these institutions. A considerable percent proportion of seniors inquired had erroneous information concerning the purpose of the social financial contribution to the care.
It is obvious that the phenomenon of the population aging will furthermore call for continuous attention to suitably satisfy needs of seniors.
