The aims of our study were to explore the burden of noncommunicable diseases and the physical demands of the job and their impact on intent to leave midwifery. A cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted among 231 midwives in hospital-based midwifery units in Hungary. Spearman rank correlation coefficients, Mann-Whitney test and Linear regression were performed for statistical analysis. Prevalence of noncommunicable diseases was over 30% for the top five diseases.
