Objectives: To translate and psychometrically validate the Slovak version of SeViD on a sample of nurses.

Methods: The SeViD instrument was translated using ISPOR guidelines, including from English into Slovak using forward-backward translation. The study was carried out at Martin University Hospital with 240 nurses. Psychometric evaluation included the Bartlett test of sphericity, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency analysis using Cronbach alpha.

Results: Content validity index ranged from 0.83 to 1.0 for individual items, with an overall scale content validity index of 0.925. Both the symptom and support domains demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.90). Confirmatory factor analysis supported a predominantly unidimensional structure for both domains. Modified models showed acceptable to good fit indices (CFI = 0.86-0.95, TLI = 0.83-0.93, RMSEA = 0.069-0.086, SRMR = 0.047-0.068) with standardized factor loadings ranging from 0.40 to 0.77 for symptoms and 0.52 to 0.74 for support strategies.

Conclusion: The Slovak version of SeViD shows very good internal consistency and satisfactory validity, confirming its psychometric validity. Internationally, this study strengthens the evidence for the psychometric validity of SeViD in hospital nurses and supports its use in identifying drivers of second victim experiences and support needs among Slovak nurses in healthcare settings.
