Journals with impact factors and domestic journals requiring reviews of manuscripts focused on nursingEditorial

Development of the number of journals in the field of nursing having impact factors and of the number of domestic journals in this branch having no impact factor but requiring reviews was investigated. Within the scope of the present investigation, the technique of analyzing written documents was employed. The numbers of journals having the impact factor (IF) and publishing works in the field of research of nursing were determined from the databases of the journal citation reports (JCR) in two editions including the research of nursing - JCR Science Edition (Sci. Ed.) and JCR Social Science Edition (Soc. Sci. Ed.). The journals without impact factor but requiring reviews of manuscripts were monitored according to the List of domestic journals without impact factors but requiring reviews of manuscripts published by the Council for Research Development and Innovation. The increase in the number of journals with impact factor aimed at nursing is ever continued, its rate in percent exceeds other medical disciplines and in terms of this number, after several years, nursing took its position among traditional medical disciplines in terms of the number achieved. The number of officially recognized domestic journals aimed at nursing is still low. In the List of domestic journals without impact factors, but requiring reviews of manuscripts, as published by the Council, there is no journal mentioned in 2010, which would be exclusively focused on nursing and there are two journals aimed at a number of healthcare disciplines, nursing being declared in the first position. These are the journals Kontakt and Profese on-line. The Council has already not issued any updated List and also does not intend to do so for 2012. Possibilities of publishing results of the nursing research in domestic journals without impact factors but requiring reviews of manuscript still remain limited, most likely also due to the fact that the Council for the research development and innovation does not continue providing originally intended annual updating of the List of these journals.
