The authors would like to make use of the article to inform the reader about the research focussed on the issues of volunteering. In 2010 the authors published in Kontakt journal the results of the quantitative research on the topic of the necessity of volunteering in the health and social sphere in Teplice region. One of the outcomes of the research is that the organizations from Teplice region are interested in volunteers. The research also revealed that volunteering is not a common practice in the respective region.
Based on the above mentioned, in 2011/12 the authors realised a subsequent qualitative research (again in Teplice region). The aim of this research was to find out the needs of the health and social organizations when recruiting volunteers. The main used research method was questioning, the technique of a semi-structured interview. There were eight open questions included. The interview was realised with eight respondents who were chosen by means of a special-purpose selection from the ranks of the health and social organizations. The particular interviews were later analysed and the results were concluded.
The research mainly reveals that the respondents need more information about the whole issue of volunteering and also more active volunteers involved in their region. Another detected need was the need for the position of a volunteering coordinator in the respective organization and the subsequent issue of financing.
